Our 2018 board of director elections, conducted by our nominating committee with administrative support from our show secretary Saddle Up Enterprises and independently verified by our 2017 president Mark VanBlankenstein, are now final. Congratulations to our five newly elected 2018-2019 board members Paul Bonello of Paso Robles, Mary Ann Ferrero of Springville, Arlene Kelemen of Exeter, Chris Krieg of Tulare and Tyrin Prince of Bakersfield. They join incumbent 2017-2018 board members Kristy Johnson, Tim Johnson, Tammy Johnston and Murray Thompson to complete our 2018 board of directors. Thanks to our other 2018-2019 board candidates Paula Francis, Russ Greathouse and Samara Trimble for their willingness to serve our association. And thanks to our retiring board members Rebecca Sternadel and Carol Williamson and past presidents Russ Greathouse and Mark VanBlankenstein for their service to our association. The 2018 board will hold their first meeting on Saturday November 18 to elect executive officers, assign committee chairs and begin planning our 2018 horse show and special event dates, locations and class list. Further details about our 2018 show year will be posted as they become available.
Please mark your 2018 calendars for Saturday January 13. We have made a reservation for that date at the Whitney Ranch Party Barn for our 2017 general membership meeting and awards banquet. Additional details to follow soon.
Following our 2017 horse show #7 it came to our attention that a scratched entry had been inadvertently recorded as a zero score. While this had no effect on the results or standings it did incorrectly count the scratched entry in the number of shows entered which does affect eligibility for year end awards and participation awards. To correct this, our show secretary has reviewed the results from all of our 2017 horse shows, and the results for horse shows #2, #4, #5 and #7 have been corrected accordingly as have the standings after horse show #7. The corrected results and standings have been posted under “Results” and “Standings” respectively.
Attention owners and exhibitors! The board has approved an increase of $1150 in horse show added money from $2000 to $3150 for our 2018 1-day horse shows. And better yet the increased horse show added money will go into effect at our 2017 year-end horse shows #8 and #9 to be held in conjunction with our Fall Spectacular and Derby all at the International Agri-Center in Tulare, CA on Friday November 3, Saturday November 4 and Sunday November 5 bringing the total added money for the event to $18,800. Join us and run for the money, trophy saddles, Franco silver bits and other great awards!
